Mareike: The day was sunny and bright at the Heart Faction Castle, and Mareike was enjoying it. Seated under a tree, she read a book in the shade and munched on an apple, one of many in a basket she had been given by a servant.
Crestivorisc was walking around in one of the gardens in the Heart Faction castle. It was a boring day for him. He thought of going out somewhere but his father gave him a job that evening so he need to stay in the Heart region, simply, waiting for the time to pass. It was still a hot afternoon. "Ahh, such a nice weather but I can't go out, ahh..." He mumbled. He really felt like going out so he sulked a bit. It was really rare for him to sulk. Walking aimless in the gardens, he looked around without noticing Mareike was just a few steps away from him.
Mareike heard footsteps approaching her, and she looked up. "Ah, Crest!" She waved to him. "How are you? You're looking a little warm. Would you like to sit in the shade with me?"
Crestivorisc: He saw Mareike. For some reason, he felt himself brighten up. He gave her a smile. "Sure, thanks." He went up and sat beside her. "It is nice."
Mareike smiled at him. "Would you like an apple? A servant gave them to me?" She dug around in the basket and handed him one.
Crestivorisc: "Sure, thank you." He took the apple and had a bite. "Very sweet." He paused for a while, "It was nice to meet you, I was so bored, aha." He chuckled.
Mareike: "It was nice to see you too," Mareike said. For some reason, Crest made her smile. She was glad to be with him. "So, how have you been lately? I haven't seen you around."
Crestivorisc: "Good as always, well, I have jobs from my father so I can't go out often these days." He took another bite of the apple. It was really nice.
Mareike: "I see. Then again, I'm mostly in the library." Mareike smiled at him. "That's where I do most of my work."
Crestivorisc: "Oh, I don't go there often. I usually spent time in the castle." He paused for a while, enjoyed the sudden wind that blew over, "I do hope to travel around more." He sounded a bit disappointed. He felt he did not have much chances to go out these days. He was all busy because of the jobs.
Mareike: "I travel out of the castle sometimes. I usually go to Diamond or Clover; I have friends there." Mareike finished her apple and picked up another one. "What about you?"
Crestivorisc: "Hmn, same here, I don't have much friends though. I have a few friends who are Spades, they are very nice." He remembered the few friends he didn't meet for quite a long time. He sighed. He felt a little bit, just a little bit moody. For some unknown reason, he felt bored. Although he got his freedom, it seemed that he did not have a fun life.
Mareike took a few bites of her apple and thought for a moment. "Crest...this is just a question, but do you...do you have a girlfriend?" She blushed a little. "I-I know that it's a personal question, but I'm just curious." She twiddled her fingers.
Crestivorisc: He got stunned by a bit when he heard the question. "No..." He smiled. He wondered why the girl asked the question. He didn't mind answering though.
Mareike: "Oh, I see." Mareike nodded. "Sorry, I was just wondering." She blushed more, feeling her clockheart speed up. "I-I don't have anyone, either..."
Crestivorisc: "Aha, it's okay." He chuckled a bit, looking at the girl's blushed face. "How cute..." Suddenly, he unconsciously blurted out those words with an extremely gentle tone. "Ah..." His face turned a bit red when he realized what he just said. "I...I...don't mean...uh..." It was the first time in his life that he actually stuttered.
Mareike: "A-ah!" Mareike blushed even more. "I-I'm not cute..." She bit her lip, covering her face with her hands.
Crestivorisc: He saw the girl got really embarrassed so he quickly apologized. "I'm...sorry, uh...I don't mean...to..." For some reason, he felt his clockheart was ticking faster. He blushed even more. He thought it will be best if he make a move first. "I think I need to leave first, bye, see you!" He said goodbye and walked away very fast. It was the first time in his life that he actually acted so unnaturally.
Slowly, he placed his hand on his chest, felt that his heart is really ticking a bit fast. He shook his head, not tying to think about it too much.
Mareike: After the encounter with Crest, Mareike had curled up in the library with another book. Her clockheart was acting strangely; it would start ticking suddenly fast when she thought about Crest. Why? Even the thought of Crest would make her smile and blush. What was wrong with her?
Crestivorisc: For the following days, Crestivorisc started to make himself really busy with his work. He didn't want to think about it for too much. His clockheart was acting strange. It was...ticking faster when he thought about Mareike.
Ahh!! He got so embarrassed when he thought about it!! Why did he say that???
Mareike: Why did he call me cute? Mareike blushed and closed her eyes, resting a hand over her clockheart. I'm not....I'm not cute. Crest is cute. Her dark blue eyes opened wide, and she blushed. Why did I think that? What's up with me?
Crestivorisc: He continued keep himself busy for quite a few days. Finally, he decided to go to the Spade region for a walk, well, he wanted to cool himself down. He tried not to think about Mareike for these few days but he ended up thinking about her a lot. He was confused. The smart guy was confused. He had no experience about that kind of relationship. He was so insensitive that he thought maybe his clockheart had some problems. He took a scarf, his precious scarf that was given by his mother. He put it on and started his journey to the place. It will be cold.
Mareike: Sighing, Mareike closed her book. She wasn't going to get anything done with Crest running through her mind all day. She decided to go for a brief walk to clear her mind. I'm just...confused. I'll figure it out; I usually do. Taking her long coat, she put it on and started walking. She didn't care where she walked as long as her journey was a long one.
Crestivorisc: He walked for a long way before reaching the place. He felt the coldness as he got nearer and nearer. Finally he reached the Spade region which was quite cold at this moment. He went into a cafe and brought a cup of coffee. He sat down, enjoying the coffee and the watching the scenery through the small window. The atmosphere in the cafe was pleasant. The cafe was a small one but it was nicely decorated. The smell of cakes and coffee was all around the small area. It was nice to stay here, he thought.
Mareike was always wary about traveling through the Faction of Spades, so she hurried quickly. As she walked, she spotted a small cafe. A gust of cold wind blew over her, and she shivered, opting to go into the cafe for a cup of tea and some warmth. But as Mareike stepped inside, she spotted Crest sitting at a table. Oh no, oh no, oh no! What do I do now? Her clockheart sped up its ticking.
Crest automatically glanced towards the door as it was opened by someone. He was stunned as he saw Mareike was the one who entered the cafe. Their eyes met and Crest felt a sudden shock running through his body. His clockheart obviously skipped a bit. After a few seconds, he quickly smiled to her, "Hi, Mareike." He tried hard to make his voice sound very natural. He did not notice that his face actually blushed a bit. Amazing for him to keep so calmed.
Mareike: "Hello, Crest," Mareike said quietly. "How are you? I'm surprised to see you here." She tried to keep her clockheart calm and quell her blushing.
Crestivorisc: "Fine as always." He smiled widely. "Come over and have a seat." He gestured for her to take the seat opposite him. It was a small table. "Do you want something? I will go and buy it." He tried to talk in order to keep himself calmed. He sure looks very calmed.
Mareike shook her head. "I can get myself some tea and some food. But I'll join you in a moment." He seems very calm, she thought. I hope that I look calm...
Crestivorisc: He smiled as she walked over to the counter. Again, he slightly placed his hand onto his chest. He breathed in deeply. Hope that I look calm enough...I'm nervous! Why it has become like this? He really wondered.
Mareike: After she paid for her vanilla chai tea and small cake, Mareike brought her food over and sat with Crest. Her face became warm and her clockheart ticked faster. Okay...this is beginning to bother me. Why am I acting like this? Mareike took a sip of her tea to hide her red face.
Crestivorisc: "How are you these days?" He quickly asked a question.
Mareike: "Oh! Um, I'm fine." Mareike nodded. "I've been working on another book." She twiddled her fingers. "How about you?"
Crestivorisc: She asked this question already... He thought. He did not wanted to make her feel uneasy so he replied. "Good, as always, aha." He chuckled a bit.
Mareike: "That's good." Mareike smiled at him and took a bite of her cake. "It's really cold outside in the Spade Faction, isn't it?" She rubbed her hands to warm them.
Crestivorisc: "Yeah, that's why I wear a scarf." He pointed the scarf around his neck, smiled. "Winter is a nice season."
Mareike: "I like winter, but I prefer spring." Mareike noticed that, while her clockheart was still ticking faster than normal, it wasn't going crazy. Maybe I'm starting to finally calm down... "I like the flowers that bloom in the springtime."
Crestivorisc: "Spring is nice too, though for some reason, I still like winter more." He smiled. Finally they are having a normal conversation. He felt calmer.
The cafe was getting a little bit crowded as some groups of people came in. Crestivorisc and Mareike were still having their conversation when a young waitress walking near Mareike tripped suddenly. The tea pot that she was holding turned over.
In a split second, Crestivorisc quickly rushed over and covered Mareike from the splashing hot tea. The hot tea was poured all over his left arm and shoulder. That hurts!
Mareike gasped as Crest suddenly stood up and shielded her. A few drops of tea got on her clothes, but her blue eyes widened when she saw all the hot tea covering Crest's arm and shoulder. "C-Crest!" She gasped. "A-are you all right?"
Crest was trying hard to endure his pain. "I'm okay...never mind." He smiled. That pain was still endurable for him since he was...not very weak. But still, it really hurts! The waitress was shocked too and rushed into the back kitchen to ask for help. That scene had made some commotion in the small cafe. People were whispering about it.
Mareike took his opposite hand-the one that wasn't scalded by the tea-and held it gently. "Thank-you, Crest. That was very brave of you to protect me." She blushed slightly.
Crestivorisc: "Aha, it was nothing." He chuckled. The waitress rushed out together with the owner of the shop. They brought out a first-aid-kit.
Mareike moved over so Crest could be bandaged and taken care of, though she continued to hold his hand. His hand felt warm....
Crestivorisc: "Wait, I think, there's too much people here..." He glanced at the people around him. The cafe is quite crowded at the moment so he...was shy.
Mareike: "Would you like to leave?" Mareike asked. "I could bandage your arm...and the cool air might help your burns."
Crestivorisc: "...Okay." He answered with a slight hesitation.
Mareike: Standing up, Mareike led him out of the cafe and into the cool air. "Here, let me see your arm..." She reached for his arm carefully.
Crestivorisc: "Wait, let's go over there." He pointed towards the area which had a few trees, without leaves of course but at least that area was less crowded. They moved to the area. Since his wound was on his upper arm and shoulder part, he needed to undress a bit. He took off his grey shirt first, later followed by his inner black shirt. He only pulled it down a bit. His skin was exposed to the cold air, it felt better.
Mareike: "All right." Mareike nodded, following Crest to the area. Her eyes grew wide and she blushed as Crest started to undress. She bowed her head slightly, averting her eyes. "U-um...."
Crest waited for her to do the bandages.
Mareike: Clearing her throat, Mareike began to bandage him up. All the while, her clockheart was ticking away loudly. Why am I so nervous? He's so close! He can probably hear my heart ticking!
Crestivorisc: "Ah..." He let out a moan softly. Hot water was not nice stuff to get in contact with.
Mareike gasped and scooted back. "C-Crest!" Her face was completely red.
Crestivorisc: "I'm fine." He smiled. It was such an awkward moment, well, he seemed to get used to it already and he could keep calm.
Mareike: Biting her lip, Mareike nodded and went back to bandaging him gently. "D-does it hurt?"
Crestivorisc: "A little, little bit only." He smiled gently, trying to calm Mareike with his smile. This girl was getting very nervous lately, he thought. Hmn...I wonder...what's wrong? It's really been quite weird lately, both of us. He kept the words in mind.
Mareike finished bandaging him quickly. "There, it's finished." She smiled lightly. "Is that better?" She gently touched his hand.
Crestivorisc: "Yes, thank you very much." He pulled his clothes back on.
Mareike gave a sigh of relief. "I'm glad that you're okay, Crest." She smiled, still holding his hand.
Crestivorisc: He smiled. She's still holding my hand. "Well, let's go looking around...ok?"
Mareike: "Okay." Mareike let go of his hand and stood up. My hand feels...strangely empty. "Where would you like to go?"
Crestivorisc: "Hmn...walk around?" He smiled and started to walk. "There were some shops selling great things, I think?" He pointed to the front.
Mareike: "That sounds good to me." Mareike started walking with him, passing jewelry shops and bookstores and all sorts of places.
Crestivorisc: "You usually shop for books, right?" He asked, smiling at her gently.
Mareike: "I usually do, yes." Mareike nodded. "Is it all right if we stop at a bookstore?" She pointed to one.
Crestivorisc: "It's a good idea, let's go to one."
Mareike opened the door slowly and looked inside. The bookstore was smaller, but well-kept, and the books looked fairly new. She started to look through the shelves.
Crestivorisc followed her into the bookstore. He looked at the books, these were one of his main interests after all, he was happy to be in a bookstore.
Mareike: As she browsed through the books, Mareike stole a glance back at Crest. He seems to be okay, she thought. She blushed suddenly, and turned back to the shelves quickly before he could see her.
Crestivorisc was concentrating on looking at the books. Then, he found a book which was focused on herbs. "What do you think of this? I'm always interested in herbs. Come to think of it, I used to met someone who is very good in herbs and I wanted to learn a bit about it." He walked closer, showing Mareike the book.
Mareike: "Oh?" Mareike turned around. "I found a book on the history of musical composers." She started walking towards him as well.
Crestivorisc: "That is interesting, may I take a look?"
Mareike: "Should we swap books?" Mareike handed Crestivorisc the book in her hand, while holding out her hand for the book he had.
Crestivorisc: "Sure." He handed her the book and they touched each other's hand slightly.
Mareike's hand heated up where Crest's hand touched it, and she blushed again. His hand..feels so warm... Her clockheart started ticking so fast and so loud, Mareike was sure that Crest could hear it from where he stood.
Crestivorisc: This is getting weird, she is blushing again, I guess... He was not stupid, a bit insensitive when it comes to relationship but Mareike was acting too obviously. What should I do? He pretended to not notice that she blushed and flipped through the book that he took from her, "It's nice, do you want it?"
Mareike: "Huh?" Mareike Claire Talleheigh, pull yourself together! She paused. "Yeah, I'll get it." Mareike quickly leafed through the book that she took from Crestivorisc. "This looks interesting as well. Are you going to get it?"
Crestivorisc: "Yeah." He took the book about herbs and walked towards the counter, actually he was going to pay for Mareike but a quick thought ran though his mind, isn't that something a boyfriend does? I don't think I want to cause more and more misunderstanding. So, he end up paying for his book only.
Mareike: With a smile, Mareike went up and paid for her book before turning to Crest. "So, where would you like to go next on our little adventure?"
Crestivorisc: "Uh...well, I think I want to go back now." He smiled. I can't make this continue, its just...weird. I think we need to keep a distance for a while. "It is quite late now, we should go back." He smiled and walked out through the door without waiting Mareike. He wanted to try to maintain their relationship as friends.
Mareike: "Home, to the castle of hearts? All right," Mareike said, tilting her head to the side. "Lead the way!"
Crestivorisc: He smiled. They both started to walk back to the castle. It was not a short distance for them. The sky started to get darker and Crest decided to rest in a hotel.
Mareike glanced back over her shoulder. "Crest? Where are you going?" She had started towards Clover, as she had a friend to stay with there.
Crestivorisc: "To the hotel, I will continue the journey tomorrow." He smiled.
Mareike: "Ah, I see." Mareike nodded. "I have a friend in Clover, so I'll just stay there." She smiled and waved. "I'll see you later!"
Crestivorisc: He smiled and waved. He walked into a hotel...and walked out again. I should not wait for her right? I think, I should go first. He was really thinking of staying in a hotel just now but he changed his mind because he thought it will be better for them to keep a distance from each other. He left a short message on a piece of paper and handed it to the owner of the hotel, telling him to hand it to Mareike the next day as she will probably wait for him in this hotel.
The note says: I will be going back soon, sorry for not waiting for you.
Mareike: The next morning, Mareike had woken up feeling much better. Her head was clear. After dressing and eating breakfast, she set out to meet Crest. But upon arriving at the hotel, she found that he had gone. "Gone?" She blinked, staring at the note in her hand. "Did he say where to?" The faceless innkeeper shook his head. With a shrug, Mareike sighed. "Ah well. He probably went home to the hearts castle. That's where I should be heading anyway." She left the inn towards home.
Crest arrived home early in the morning and laid on his bed. His mind was not really clear and he felt really sleepy, so he just forgot about everything and had a good sleep.
Mareike made it to Heart Castle quickly, as it had stopped snowing in Spades. Putting away her coat, she called for some tea in the library and sat down to work on her new book. She figured that Crest was somewhere, and she should probably give him space. Being the youngest of six siblings, Mareike understood the importance of a personal space bubble.
Crestivorisc: He woke up from his 8 hour sleep and started to do his work, all that paper work was troublesome. He tried not to think about Mareike, well, it was just...weird...how to say it...Its just, well, basically, he was not prepared to have a "lovey dovey" kind of...relationship. Ahh, he was so confused. This might be the typical "love problem". She will be alright I think? Its safe for her to walk back alone right? He started to worry. No, there's nothing for me to worry about, it was not like she is very weak. He tried to convince himself...but failed. Was Mareike safe? Was she still waiting there? Not really...possible...wait...she liked me right? Then she probably still there? No? His mind started to go round and round, regretting that he left her behind. He rushed out from his castle and headed for Mareike's castle, trying to check whether she arrived or not.
Mareike: "Thank-you." Mareike smiled as the faceless servant put the tea tray down in front of her. Lady Grey was her favorite. As she took a sip, her mind wandered from the notes in front of her to Crest. Was he okay? He left in a bit of a hurry...he seemed nervous... Mareike pursed her lips and put her tea down. I should go talk to him. I hope he's okay. She started towards Crest's castle.
Crestivorisc: He walked very fast towards Mareike's Castle.
Mareike hurried down to Crest's castle, glancing around worriedly. She was so preoccupied, she crashed into Crest, falling backwards. "Oof!"
Crestivorisc: "Ehh?" He quickly grabbed her hand, preventing her from falling backwards, she might fall down. But he used too much strength that he pulled Mareike right towards his chest.
Mareike: "Mmph!" Mareike practically buried her face in his chest, wrapping her arms around him in an awkward hug. She hid her blushing face in the folds of his shirt. "Good day, Crest." Her voice was muffled. "I'm glad to see you."
Crestivorisc: "Good...day..." He had an awkward smile on his face for the first time in his life. He was blushing really hard as Mareike was so close with him. His clockheart was ticking fast.
Mareike: His clockheart is ticking really fast...but then again, so is mine, Mareike thought. She pulled away. "How are you?" You seemed nervous the other day, so I decided to look for you."
Crestivorisc: "..." He remained quiet...for a few seconds and said: "Can you come with me to the garden?" He smiled. He was thinking maybe he should...just say it...He could not really handle such complicated things anymore.
Mareike paused. "Um, sure." She shrugged, starting to walk with him.
Crestivorisc: They reached the nearby garden. "You like me, right? I like you, too." It was fast! Well, Crest...was this type of person.
Mareike's face turned bright red. "I-I-I---!" Her mouth was parted in surprise. "W-well..." She stammered, glancing around nervously. Why couldn't things like this be simpler? This is why Mareike preferred books to people. But...when it comes down to it, would I rather spend time with books than with Crest, or with my friends? She bit her lip and blushed, allowing herself to smile....just a little.
Crest smiled slightly, blushing too. "We are both smart, I suppose? So, there's no need to...um...drag it any further." He paused for a short while, "I think we were in...a...weird situation for a while already. So...I like you."
Mareike: "I-I-I-I like y-y-y-you, too...." Mareike managed to stammer out. She felt like she was going to faint. No one had ever been interested in her like this before. She tried to cover her blushing face with her sleeves. It was wonderful, but oh, still so embarrassing!
Crestivorisc: "I see...ahaha, good then." He chuckled a bit, looking at Mareike's nervous manner and thought she was cute. "I had been thinking for a while...I looked through many books which...is...uh...just...well...romance stuff." He managed to keep his cool. "So...well..." He actually stuttered quite a lot since he was usually a very brilliant speaker. He had a deep breath and continued his sentence. "Will you go out with me?" His clockheart was ticking fast. He was nervous, very nervous!
Mareike: "Y-y-y-yes!" Mareike blurted out, fiddling with her hands.
Crestivorisc: "You sure?" It was bad for guys to ask like that, but, he just wanted to...double confirm. He didn't want Mareike to regret it. "Well, you see...I don't know much about these kind of...well..relationships...so...I might not be a very ideal lover." He smiled awkwardly. That was embarrassing.
Mareike: "N-no, it's fine..." Mareike took one of Crest's hands in hers. "I've never had experience in relationships, either...people have never really been interested in me because I'm not as beautiful as my sisters," she mumbled.
Crestivorisc: He blushed really hard. "No, I think...you are beautiful." He slowly held her hand tightly. "Well then...let's walk around?"
Mareike bit her lip and looked away. "I'm...I'm not that pretty..."
Crestivorisc: "Have more confidence in yourself. Let's go." He smiled gently. He held her hand and started to walk around with her.
Mareike smiled, starting to walk with him. "Thank-you."
